Plans revealed for a new central depot in Melksham
Businesses are being invited to view and comment on Wiltshire Council’s proposals for a new central area depot in Melksham.
The proposed depot, located on the former golf course and Christie Miller Sports Centre site at Bowerhill, will bring together a range of council services, including highways, waste, street scene and household recycling centre (HRC) operations, into one modern facility.
The plans will be on display at Melksham Community Campus until Friday 31st July, with information boards showing the proposed layout and improved HRC facilities.
Businesses can also view the proposals online and submit comments before a planning application is submitted later this summer.
New funding to support transformation of Salisbury Playhouse
Wiltshire Council has approved a major package of support for Salisbury’s Cultural Quarter, including £1 million towards the first phase of the £22 million transformation of Salisbury Playhouse and an underwriting commitment of up to £3 million to help unlock further external funding.
The investment will support essential improvements to Salisbury Playhouse, including accessibility upgrades and building repairs, helping to secure its long-term future while strengthening Salisbury’s cultural offer, economy and city centre regeneration ambitions.

New homes approval
Charles Church has been granted reserved matters approval to deliver its first homes at Ashton Park, the major new community being developed south of Trowbridge.
The approval covers 35 homes, along with associated landscaping and infrastructure, and follows recent consent for Persimmon Homes to build the first 161 properties on the site.
The decisions mark another milestone for Ashton Park, one of Wiltshire’s largest planned developments. Delivered through a joint venture between Persimmon Homes and Barratt Redrow, the scheme will provide up to 2,500 homes alongside major investment in local infrastructure.
Plans include a new A350 relief road, schools, early years facilities, local centres, employment land and an ecology visitor centre. The development is also set to contribute more than £25 million towards infrastructure projects, as well as £7.5 million through the Community Infrastructure Levy.
Charles Church says the new homes will offer greater choice for buyers while helping create a thriving new community that delivers long-term benefits for Trowbridge and the wider area.
