The Secretary of State for Transport, Rt Hon Heidi Alexander MP, joined Neil Hopkins, Mayor of Swindon last week, to officially open the new Stagecoach Travel Hub at 1 Newbridge Square.

The new facility will serve as a customer information centre and ticket office, offering passengers updates on services across Swindon, while also acting as a base for Stagecoach drivers, controllers and operational staff.

Stagecoach West Managing Director Martin Gibbon said, “We’re really proud to be opening this facility for all of our customers, all bus users within Swindon. In addition to that, the facility is also a new premises for our staff to have their rest breaks and for our control staff to manage the network.”

Tim Knowles, Founder and Managing Director of FI Property Group, which owns and manages Newbridge Square, added, “This has been a long time in the planning and is the final part of the journey.

“We are proud to be playing a significant role in the ongoing transformation of Swindon town centre, and the redevelopment of Fleming Way is one of the major landmarks.”

The new Travel Hub is the latest stage in the Heart of Swindon project, the council-led major upgrade and transformation of Fleming Way as the main gateway to the town centre.

For both residents and visitors, the £33 million investment will improve the connection between the train station and the town centre, creating a safer and more pleasant route through the area.
