Meet Simon Lisemore, Centre Principal at Porsche Centre Swindon
Simon Lisemore has been part of Porsche Centre Swindon team for nearly 19 years and is passionate about delivering an exceptional customer experience. Well-known across the local business community, Simon and his team work closely with clients to find a Porsche that suits both their professional and personal lifestyles.
It’s an exciting time for the brand, with the arrival of the all-new Cayenne Electric range alongside the existing Macan Electric and Taycan. With attractive business benefits available across Porsche’s electric models, we caught up with Simon to discuss why they’re proving such a popular choice for businesses.
When you think of Porsche, you think high-performance cars and you don’t necessarily expect to see electric and high-performance in the same sentence. Porsche seem to be owning this corner of the market. Why do you think they’re getting it so right?
Porsche hasn’t approached electrification as a compromise. Every Porsche, whether it’s petrol, hybrid or electric has always and will continue to deliver the performance, handling and driving experience people expect from the brand.
The Macan Electric is a great example. It can accelerate from 0-62mph in 5.2 seconds and has a maximum range of up to 379 miles*, depending on the model. Yet it’s also practical enough for everyday business and family life.
Porsche has invested heavily in technology, for example the Cayenne Electric is equipped with the largest battery ever fitted to a Porsche and can charge from 10% to 80% in as little at 16 minutes2, ensuring minimal downtime whether you’re at home or on the road.
Our customers are finding they don’t have to choose between sustainability and driving enjoyment. With Porsche, they can have both.
The mid-tier luxury market has changed significantly, with electric vehicles making premium brands more accessible. Are you seeing an influx of new buyers?
Absolutely, and we are thrilled to introduce so many first-time Porsche owners to our business.
Many buyers who may not have previously considered a Porsche are now able to do so due to our electric offering, particularly business owners, directors and professionals.
Electric vehicles have transformed the way people calculate the cost of ownership. Customers today are often looking beyond the headline purchase price and focusing on monthly costs, tax efficiency and overall value.
The Macan Electric has been particularly important in attracting new customers because it sits in one of the fastest-growing segments of the market, while combining the performance, prestige and driving dynamics that Porsche is known for.
What are the benefits for a Porsche business customer?
There are several. For many company car drivers, electric Porsche models, including Macan Electric, Cayenne Electric and Taycan, provide a highly tax-efficient route into premium motoring. For example, businesses may qualify for a 4% Benefit-in-Kind tax rates and 100% first year allowance3, making them an attractive option for directors and employees alike.
Beyond the financial benefits, a Porsche also makes a strong statement about your business. For many of our clients, their vehicle is an extension of their own brand. They want something that reflects professionalism, innovation and success.
Electric Porsche models also support sustainability goals. Many businesses are actively looking for ways to reduce their carbon footprint and demonstrate their environmental credentials to customers, employees and stakeholders.
Then, of course, there’s the ownership experience. Our customers value the reputation, reliability, service support and strong residual values that Porsche is known for.
What sort of savings can business customers achieve?
The biggest savings often come through taxation. For company car drivers, fully electric vehicles continue to attract favourable Benefit-in-Kind rates compared with equivalent petrol models. This can mean substantial savings for higher-rate taxpayers over the course of ownership.
Businesses can also benefit from reduced National Insurance contributions on company cars, while drivers typically enjoy lower running costs. Electricity is generally less expensive than fuel, maintenance costs are often reduced, many businesses are now able to charge vehicles at their premises, and drivers benefit from exemption from ULEZ charges.
When you combine tax efficiencies, lower running costs and strong residual values, the overall cost of ownership can be surprisingly competitive.
That’s why we’re increasingly seeing financially savvy business owners choose electric Porsche models. They’re not just buying with their hearts. They’re making a smart business decision as well.
What are the ‘wow’ points of these cars?
Performance is often the first thing that impresses customers. The Macan Electric Turbo combines sports car performance with SUV practicality, delivering up to 639PS, while the Cayenne Electric Turbo is the most powerful production car Porsche has ever built, producing an extraordinary 1,156PS and accelerating from 0-62mph in just 2.5 seconds.
The technology is equally impressive. The Cayenne Electric features a 14.25-inch curved instrument screen that displays a range of driver assistance functions, while the Macan Electric offers a fully digital cockpit and an optional Augmented Reality Head-Up Display.
Then there is the charging capability. Porsche’s 800-volt architecture allows for ultra-fast charging and makes long-distance journeys easier than ever. The Cayenne Electric also introduces innovative wireless charging technology, using a compact floor plate installed in a garage or driveway.
However, for many customers, the biggest wow factor is the everyday usability. Alongside the performance, design and prestige of owning a Porsche, you get the convenience, refinement and efficiency that make electric motoring so easy to live with.
