Goughs Solicitors has welcomed three new trainees as part of its commitment to encourage young talent and facilitate ways into qualification.
Following the continued growth of the firm, three previous trainees have recently qualified into permanent roles, and due to ongoing high demand, three more trainees have since been recruited.
Having worked as a Legal Assistant in the firm’s Housebuilding and Development Department for three years, while studying an LLM Master of Laws course part time, Eden Wey has progressed to a Trainee Solicitor role. Eden is now ready to begin fee earning at Goughs and will carry out a number of training seats in different teams across the firm.
Eden said, “I’ve really enjoyed working in the commercial teams at the firm for the past few years and have gained a huge amount of practical industry-based experience while completing my LLM/LPC alongside. Goughs is such a supportive learning environment so I’m very excited to apply my existing experience to my first seat in the Family Department.”
Adelaide Longhurst accepted a training contract in summer 2024. Since then, she has successfully completed her MA Law (Conversion) course and passed both Solicitors Qualifying Examinations 1 and 2. She is now ready to begin her career with Goughs.
Adelaide said, “My experience with the firm so far is that it is a very supportive and nurturing environment. I am really looking forward to starting in Devizes with the Private Client team, as this is an area I am eager to gain experience in.”
After being offered a training contract with Goughs in his second year of university, Samuel Berkeley completed his LLB at the University of Swansea. Continuing at Swansea, he then went on to pass the Legal Practice Course and earned his Masters in Law.
Samuel said, “I am very happy to be starting my training contract with Goughs. My first seat will be with the Family team and I am excited to work further on my professional development in this department and within the firm as a whole.”
To give the trainees a solid understanding of how the business operates, Goughs arranged for them to spend their first few weeks in the Finance and Marketing teams. This enables the trainees to gain crucial commercial awareness before they begin their legal training. It is Goughs’ aim to curate well-rounded individuals and businesspeople as well as trusted advisors.
