Goughs welcomes new trainee solicitors
Wiltshire Law Firm Goughs Solicitors has welcomed four new trainees as it continues to invest in the next generation of legal talent.
September 2026 saw Alice Gane, Alice Robinson, Jess Pope, and Mia Griffiths commence their training contracts with the firm, bringing a range of academic and professional experience to the offices.
The appointments further strengthen Goughs’ commitment to providing excellent client care, with the addition of four talented new members supporting the firm in maintaining the high standards of service and expertise that its clients have come to expect.
Alice Gane studied Law at the University of Exeter and joined Goughs after completing a vacation scheme with the firm in the summer of 2025. Based at the Greenways office in Chippenham, she has begun her training in Commercial Property.
She said, “Goughs stood out to me because of its strong reputation as well as its welcoming and sociable environment. I’m looking forward to developing my skills and seeing where the next two years take me.”
Alice Robinson studied for her Law Degree at the Open University alongside her role as a Legal Assistant at Goughs, gaining experience across Corporate and Commercial, Commercial Property, and Employment.
She explained, “I’ve always enjoyed problem-solving, which is one of the things that attracted me to law. I’m looking forward to working with the Family team in Melksham, building on the experience I already have, and learning from the people around me. From the beginning, Goughs felt like a firm where people genuinely support one another, which was really important to me.”
Jess Pope studied Law at the University of Bristol, and will be based at the firm’s Calne office in the Family department. Jess was drawn to the firm’s strong links with the local community, and the variety of legal work available across the offices.
“I knew I wanted to build my career in the South West, and Goughs really stood out to me. Everyone has been incredibly welcoming since I joined, and I’m looking forward to experiencing different areas of law and learning from such knowledgeable and experienced colleagues. I am excited to work with the Family department who have an excellent reputation in the area.”
Mia Griffiths completed her LLB at the University of the West of England and is training in the Housebuilding and Development team based at the Greenways Office.
She said, “I first came across Goughs at a university event and was really struck by how friendly and approachable everyone was. I am really excited to be starting my training contract here, and particularly look forward to building relationships with clients, developing my confidence and gaining the experience I need to become a Family solicitor.”
Before beginning their new roles, the trainees will spend four weeks alongside the firm’s Marketing and Accounts teams, giving them insight into the wider business and helping to develop their commercial understanding.
