The hunt is on for Swindon and Wiltshire’s most inspiring women.

For a fourth year, we’re celebrating Swindon and Wiltshire’s most inspiring women to mark International Women’s Day 2025.

International Women’s Day falls on 8th March each year and is a global day which recognises the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. It also helps to raise awareness of discrimination and inspires action to drive gender parity.

At The Business Exchange we use the day as a springboard to celebrate the amazing women in our community. We’re asking you to share with us the women in our area that inspire you to create 2025’s definitive list which recognises 20 women.

The 2024 list was made up of women from diverse backgrounds including Sandie Webb from Chippenham Community Hub, Sherelyn Cowles, Chief Financial Officer at Goodings Accounts in Westbury, Vicky Hickey and Fiona Oliver, Joint Chief Executives of Wiltshire Community Foundation and young Swindon widow, Abby Lever.

Each of the women who make up the top 20 list are assigned a day in March to celebrate them, with their profiles shared on The Business Exchange Swindon & Wiltshire website and via our socials (example here). They are also celebrated in our spring magazine and a select few will also be invited to speak at our special International Women’s Day event which will take place on Thursday 6th March at Bailbrook House near Bath. The event will bring together inspiring women from the two patches we cover – Swindon & Wiltshire and Bath & Somerset, with a separate list created to celebrate Bath’s inspiring women.

The TBE International Women’s Day event will be an inspiring evening celebrating the achievements of the women in our 2025 lists. There will also be bubbles, bites and invaluable networking. Last year, we had nearly 100 attendees and as part of the evening there was a panel session with inspirational guest speakers including well-known local broadcast journalist Ali Vowles and Maddie Difazio-Wright who had just completed the ‘World’s Toughest Row’. The 2025 speakers will be announced in February.

We’re delighted that Unividual are getting behind this feature in 2025 as they are passionate about supporting women in business and in the wider community. Cherie-Anne Baxter-Blyth, Strategy & Marketing Director at Unividual was featured in the 2024 list for Bath and wanted to give back to celebrate and raise up other women in the community.

Unividual is a Chartered Financial Planning business that works across the UK with offices in Bath, Edinburgh and London. It is a women and LGBTQIA led financial advice business and is now one of the largest privately-owned, family-run financial planning businesses in the UK.

Cherie-Anne, said, “Unividual’s name reflects our core belief that everyone is unique and individual.

“We’re supporting the TBE Swindon & Wiltshire most inspiring women list 2025 as we want to help celebrate some of the unsung heroes in our community that deserve both praise and recognition. I look forward to seeing who you vote for.”

Cast your vote now. Voting closes Friday 31st January 2025.
