Property developer SevenCapital has signed an agreement with leisure operator and charitable social enterprise GLL for the running of a restored Oasis Leisure Centre in Swindon.

GLL — which previously managed the Oasis before it was closed in 2020 due to a lack of viability — has entered into a contract following the approval of plans in 2024, to restore and deliver a new, improved facility at the now grade II listed Oasis.

The plans included reviving the former leisure destination by restoring the iconic dome structure and delivering a modern wave machine, state-of-the-art aqua play, and teaching lane pool. A bowling alley, indoor golf, gym, and café spaces are also proposed, with new outdoor all-weather pitches, known as Multi Use Games Areas, also included.

Damien Siviter, Group Managing Director at SevenCapital, said, “This agreement marks a big step forward in our plans to restore and reopen the Oasis. There is still a lot of work to do, however securing an operator is a critical detail in the process of moving forward. SevenCapital remains committed to the revitalisation of this iconic community venue and we continue to work hard to bring these plans to fruition.”

Peter Bundey, GLL Chief Executive Officer, added, “Signing this agreement with SevenCapital is a significant step forward for community leisure facilities in the town. We understand how important the Oasis is to local residents, and we’re delighted to play a key role in its revitalisation and long-term success.”
