Calne-based tech firm Black Nova Designs is celebrating its 10th anniversary with purpose, putting mental health charity Best Mates at the heart of its milestone event.
Known for its web design, hosting, and IT services, Black Nova is using its birthday bash to raise awareness and funds for the Swindon-based charity, which supports people in crisis through practical help and confidential peer support.
In a recent interview, founder Kyle Holmes opened up about the personal reasons behind the decision to spotlight Best Mates.
He said, “Throughout the first twenty-three years of my life I didn’t have anyone to turn to. Someone who, when I was in trouble, would support me or just take me on a walk. That’s the great thing that Best Mates does; they provide that voice for people. A voice that just listens.
“A lot of people don’t know where to turn to — I certainly didn’t. If our birthday bash can give people a place to go and we can raise money for a charity that can literally save someone’s life, I couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate our birthday.”
The event will feature a raffle and fundraising activities, with guests encouraged to donate generously to support the charity’s life-saving work.

The 10th Birthday Bash takes place on Saturday 18th October at the National Self Build and Renovation Centre (NSBRC) in Swindon, from 7pm to 11pm. The evening is themed ‘dress to impress’ and promises a mix of celebration, networking, and entertainment — all in support of mental health awareness.
