2025 TBE Awards category sponsors | Meet SVGC

By Ben Carey on 9 October, 2025

In the run up to the 2025 TBE Awards on Thursday 6th November, we’ve been chatting to our fantastic sponsors to find out more about their businesses and their involvement in the awards.

Dr Andrew Dixon is Managing Director of SVGC, an award-winning business which has been providing digital transformation and digital design services to the public sector for 28 years.

As sponsor of the Best Start-Up category for the second year in a row, Andrew and the team at SVGC are keen to apply their knowledge and experience to support the region’s start-ups to progress from academia into delivery.

Can you give us an overview of your organisation and some of the work/projects you’re currently undertaking?

SVGC is a consultancy and digital transformation business that helps government and industry make great decisions. Our services are increasingly in demand from Government departments, commercial organisations and the nuclear sector because we focus on delivering outcomes rather than simply selling knowledge or products.

We provide transformative advisory and digital design services to enable effective and efficient business processes and decision-making. Our expertise spans:

  • Strategic and enterprise planning
  • Digital transition and transformation
  • Solution and enterprise architectures
  • Data science and advanced analytics
  • Secure cloud software integration
  • Capability management
  • Systems and requirements engineering
  • Strategic planning and strategic change
  • Portfolio, programme and project management

Right now, we’re working on a range of projects that enable better, faster, data-informed decision-making across the public sector, from digital transformation initiatives to advanced analytics tools that support mission-critical operations.

Why did you decide to sponsor a TBE Award category this year?

After such a positive experience last year, it was an easy decision to sponsor again. By supporting this event it allows SVGC to celebrate and champion the forward-thinking organisations that are shaping the future.

It also aligns closely with my wider work as Chair of TechUK’s Defence SME Forum. I’m passionate about supporting smaller businesses and helping them bring fresh ideas and innovation into complex industries like defence and technology.

What was it about the category you’re sponsoring that appealed to you?

We’re proud to once again sponsor the Best Start-up category. Start-ups are the lifeblood of innovation – agile, creative, and unafraid to tackle big challenges in new ways. That mindset is something we value deeply at SVGC.

My role as Chair of TechUK’s Defence SME Forum gives me a front-row view of how smaller companies drive innovation and capability across the sector. Sponsoring this category is a natural extension of that commitment to championing new businesses and helping them grow, connect, and succeed.

How important is regional recognition like the TBE Awards for businesses and organisations?

Regional recognition is hugely important. It not only celebrates success but also builds stronger networks and encourages collaboration across industries. Awards like TBE’s showcase the diversity and creativity, helping to attract investment and inspire future innovation.

Are there other categories you’ll be keeping a close eye on?

We’ll certainly be watching the Innovation and Business Leader categories. Both speak to the qualities that drive progress – original thinking and strong, purposeful leadership. It’s always inspiring to see how other organisations are pushing boundaries and achieving great results.

What are you looking forward to about Awards night?

Awards night is always a fantastic celebration of talent and achievement. We’re looking forward to meeting the finalists, hearing their stories, and celebrating the impact they’re making in their fields. It’s also a brilliant opportunity to connect with others who share our passion for innovation and excellence.

Anything else you’d like to add?

Congratulations to all this year’s finalists, your energy, creativity and determination are what keep the local economy thriving.
